NANCY LOUISE VAUGHAN

Subject: Re: [Vaughanpioneers] Nancy Louise Vaughan
"My first guess would be that Nancy was married to a Stone before she married Lewis Harp.  I went to familysearch.org and it shows Lewis Harp and under wife shows '2' beside the name Nancy.  According to Vaughan Pioneers, Nancy and Lewis Harp had nine children.  Family search shows the census of 1880 Prairie, Carroll Co., AR shows Lewis with wife '2' Nancy, age 41.  This would mean she was born in 1839, and Nancy Vaughan was born in 1828.
The census shows that four of the children are still listed in the household.  Arrena age 20, James 19, Louis 16, and Dalise 23.
Also listed is Malinda Stone age 67.  So perhaps Lewis was married twice and second wife also named Nancy... and her mother is living with them. But what happened to Nancy the mother of these children since she d. 1908? S
o I can't tell you if the marriage license of 1828 is for Nancy Vaughan or for Nancy Stone.  I didn't check the years the first children were born.  That might shed some light on it.
COMMENT; "Steve, if I remember right, Nancy was born out of wedlock and her mother later married Solomon Stone. Solomon was the 2nd marriage of her mothers'.
The information I have been given is that my Great-Great-Great Grandmother Nancy Louise Vaughan married Thomas Lewis Harp on March 2, 1845 in Washington County, Arkansas.... Except the marriage book shows her name as Nancy Stone.
