Lewis and Sarah died leaving 5 children without a home. The kids were kept by various families in the area.
Ves (Sylvester) was the 5th of 6 children.
He moved on to Colorado, Adams County, later to Wyoming and the Black Hills. He was part of the settlement of Cheyenne and Laramie when Wild Bill Hickok & Calamity Jane were about. He was a teamster and 2nd assistant on a wagon train that was attacked by Indians. The train suffered heavy losses but Ves and the train made it through. The wagon train was taking supplies to Ft. Fedderman, WY. Ves, also, worked as a cattle herder in Colorado and Wyoming but finally settled in Torrington, WY.

Ist Sherman known to me to have diabetes. Most have heart conditions. It seems that Ves had a disabling stroke in the 1890's and used a cane for the rest of his life.

Hi

The picture for Lewis G Sherman, Mahala Sherman, James Sherman, and siblings appears to be the one of Mahala and William Peytopn that you posted previously. Could you re-post the Sherman photo?

I am a descendant of Elizabeth "Betsy" Sherman (1812-1832), daughter of Jesse Sherman (ca. 1784-1866) of Lawrence County, Ohio. I would like to exchange info with you.

My email address is jayedrummond@gmail.com. I could not find yours on your blog.

I looked at all the Sherman posts on your site and did not see the Lewis G., Mahala, James et al. pic.

Looking forward to hearing from you again.
