They had 12 children, 1805 maybe in Granville Co., N. C. or about.
The family was living in Overton Co., TN in 1830.
William was a soldier in War of 1812 all on the N. side.
"...His wife Charlotte and children came to Missouri and Arkansas.
Is a Farmer
3. May have died in Madison Co., Arkansas, not Missouri.
4. Orville D. Harp refers to him as William T.? not L
His father maybe William H. Harp 1755-1774 N C in 1800 census Granville co. (Sampson 45 and up or John 26-45 ,
abt same ages, N.C. is there also.?) A Anna Harp head of the house is there too who is probably in this family (45 and
up abt 1755)

2. 929.273 H23L, Descendants of William and Charlotte (Harrison) Harp compiled by Edna Hazel McCullough Lowery;
Mildred Lander Roden. Cassville, Mo.:
M. F. L. Roden 1983. This says she was not b. in 1780.
They had 12 children, <1805>-1829, maybe in Granville Co., N. C. or abouts.
The family was living in Overton Co., TN in 1830. Charlotte Harp was in Crawford County, Missouri in 1832, and in
Madison Co., Arkansas in 1838.
3. Descendants live in Missouri, Arkansas, i.e., which includes Bohannan, Bilyeu, Davis and related families.
My Kin Folks, Film no. 1320703 item 6) 929.273 H23h, Author is Thomas Young Harp. (Name spelled Lottery on
marriage records in this book.)
4. Charlotte Harp is 60 years old in 1850 census in AR. born in NC and lives in War Eagle Madison Co., AR. (1790)
5. 1860 census Christian Co., Missouri Linn Twp. Farmer Property of 616.00, #3 lists Charlotte as 69, N.C. (1791)
6. Descendants of William and Charlotte (Harrison) Harp by Roden says she was born 1785/88 in prob. Christian Co.,
Missouri. She sold property in Taney Co., Missouri 1858.

9 Mar 2008

"She was b. Halifax or Granville Co., No. Carolina file # 1653 shows James Harrison in the Salisbury District in N. C. in
1782. Eli Harrison says his father moved to Salifax Co. N. C. before he, Eli was born and settled on Roanoke River."
Evelyn Johnson
1850 c. Madison Co., Arkansas Charlotte was 60 years old living with Thomas J and Rhoda Wright Harp.
CHILD 1
-
Winnie Redam HARP
1. AFN: JSHH-10, From Ancestral file (TM), data as of 2 January 1996. This file says she is the daughter of Philip Harp
in which I had her in until I read the book "Descendants of William and Charlotte Harp. More research." She was
sealed to Philip Harp.
This file disagrees with the middle names spelling Reddin?
2. 1850, born in TN Madison Co., Arkansas War Eagle Twp. #667 and the 1860 census say she is a midwife (maybe
her mother-in-law). Because this information conflicts with Descendents of William and Charlotte Harp book which says
she was blind, unless this was in her latter years?
3. 1880 c Ark. the N.C. may be a Mo.?
4. Book, Carroll Co., Families: THESE WERE THE FIRST, Carroll Co., Arkansas 1991 compiled by Jim Lair. Fam.
Hist. Lib. S.L. City, UT 84150.
5. The Bohannon Mountain Cemetery disagrees with the book, These Were the First, death date. I used the cemetery
stone records.
6. BYU Library, Provo Utah, Madison County, AR., GENEALOGIST, vol 4 1972 F417. M3 M344X PG 50 and also in
Vol 2-3 PG 85.
7. Descendents of William and Charlotte Harp says she was born in April instead of August. (Or this could prove both
had Winnie's)
Note: researching now concludes I may have two dif. Winnie's.
This Winnie had a lot of problems with her eyes
CHILD 2
-
Salina, Celia HARP
This Salina from N C b 1807 has been the last child of Philip Harp. New evidence shows she belong with William L.
Harp and Charlotte. The confusion come from the Two Salina's in the family. Philip Harp Salina, if there was one, came
from N. C. b. 1807 too. The same Salina?
CHILD 3
-
Sarah Frances HARP
1. AFN: 118G-PX8, From Ancestral File (TM), data as of 2 January 1996. This file disagrees with the Book
Descendants of William and Charlotte Harp in the fact that this is their daughter and not Philip and Sarah "Sally"
Vaughan? To be solved.
2. Book, CARROLL CO., FAMILIES: THESE WERE THE FIRST, Carroll Co., AR 1991, Compiler Jim Lair and
Submitted by Evelyn Johnson.
Lib # 976.717 D3L Family History Center S.L. City Utah in 1998 read by Pat Sherman.
3. Ancestral File also has another date of Sealing to Parents: Done 07 Oct 1987--Lange.

Elizabeth HARP

Note: The Eliz. Harps are mixed up because of the different marriages of William Davis. so I took what The
Descendants of William and Charlotte (Harrison) recorded in their book. I can't remember where I got this Elizabeth. She
may be named Sarah Elizabeth Harp but called Eliz.
CHILD 7
-
Susannah, "Susan"
Newton Co., Arkansas b.1819? could she have been marr bef or is Sam. R. b. 1836 be
incorrect or the marr date?
CHILD 8
-
Martha J.Patsy HARP
"A Patsy Harp was married in Miller Co., Missouri to Jarrett Davis, on Aug. 1, 1839. Patsy is used for the name of
Martha in many old records. This may be her too."
2. Pat Sherman researcher: (Descendant of William and Charlotte Harrison Harp)
CHILD 9
-
HARP

The ancestral files list a "HARP" as one of the children.

CHILD 10
-
Salina Celia Sissal HARP
1.AFN: 118G-PW2, From Ancestral File (TM), data as of 2 January 1996.
2.Researcher Pat Sherman: Book, Carroll Co., Families: THESE WERE THE FIRST, Carroll Co., Arkansas 1991
Compiled by Jim Lair. Fam. Hist. Lib. S.L. City, Utah 84150.
3. Descendants of William and Charlotte Harrison say their Salina was born in Tennessee not NC.
4. 1850 census Newton Co., Arkansas Jasper Ark. Jackson twp. says she is 24 born in Tennessee.
I don't believe their is two Salina' in this family as some have. B 1807 N.C. one of these Salina doesn’t belong. Oct 2000.
Was born 4 May 1826 in Tennessee (? Overton Cot); died near Jasper, Newton Co., Arkansas in the latter part of
1864 or 1865.
5. Charlotte A. Cecil and Susan E. were in Christian County, Missouri living with the family of their aunt and uncle,
Sarah Harp Bilyeu and John W. Bilyeu. The children of Salina and Second husband, William C. Henderson, were
somewere in Ark. probably in Newton Co., Arkansas.
CHILD 11
-
Thomas Jefferson HARP
Thomas James Harp?
1. He is getting mixed up with Thomas Harp son of Philip Harp, so I put him in our genealogy to have a continual
Comparison. The Tennessee Harps are our lines but not the direct lines. The ancestral file says his family was born in
Kansas? not Arkansas.
2. In the Book Harp Strings by Mattie Benson Smith she give two other lines that she deals with Weeks and Hinds.
3. Book Descendants of William and Charlotte (Harrison) Harp say that a "Levi Lewis was probably the step-father of
Thomas J. Harp's third wife, Isabella Gilbert."
4."Thos. J. Harp, Co K 21 MO Inf." (Missouri State Militia) no dates on tombstone.
5. 1850 census War Eagle # 691 Arkansas says he was born in 1823 not 1828.
6. He was a veteran of the Civil War. A picture of him in uniform is now in the possession of his grandson Jeff W. Harp
in Tulsa, OK. (Mattie Benson Smith)
Oct of 27 1890 pension age 65. Thomas J Harp was enrolled as a private on the 6 day of Feb. 1862 in company D of
the 24 Regiment of Missouri vols. in the War of the Rebellion. Honorable Discharged at East Port Mississippi on the 11
Feb 1865. He had an injury to the right hip and loss of the right hand. # 458846 from Harp Strings.
CHILD 12
-
James Mc Matt Madison HARP
Ancestral File (1998) went by the name of Matt.
Source: Information is found in the book, "William and Charlotte (Harrison) Harp."
This book says he died 9 April 1864 (age abt. 33) in the "Battle of Pleasant Hill in Louisiana." during the Civil War
which disagrees with 9 May 1910? (Age 81) "James M. Harp (Matt) left immediately for California with several friends
and relatives, some to dig for gold and some of them for various reasons. It is very likely they took along supplies for
others who had gone earlier. (Died 1962?) A farmer The dates don't match, not likely.
2. 1860 census, Berry Co., Mo. Mountain Twp. Flat Creek Post Office #1181 says he is 29 from TN. 1831 not 1829.
(Mattie Smith has 1929} He is living with Absolum A. Harp family.
1870 c living in Christian Co., Missouri with family of Stephen Bilyeu who is a first cousin.
3. See 1880 census and a book called "OUR BILYEUS'
4. Ancestral file say he was born 1829 Tennessee.
5. See in file Hardy Harp b 1831 TN. Hardy Harp Was Enlisted at Lebanon, Mo. 15 Feb. 1862 and was wounded in the
same Battle of Pleasant Hill Louisiana, 9 Apr 1864.
